Fear in our homes: Lady Kess urges parents to break the cycle of anxiety

Lady Kesswaa Nortey urges men of God to build a good reputation and self-control

Media personality Lady Kess has urged parents to stop passing their fears and unresolved anxieties onto their children, warning that such habits can negatively shape a child’s growth and confidence.

Speaking on Nyansapo Fie on Plan B FM, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Lady Kess explained that many parents unknowingly project past struggles onto their children.

According to her, a parent who once struggled with examinations or feared failure may become overly demanding about academic performance, creating unnecessary pressure and anxiety for the child.

“Let your children know your situation,” Lady Kess advised. She encouraged parents to openly acknowledge their fears instead of hiding them, stressing that honesty helps weaken fear while silence often strengthens it.

She also cautioned against constant negative remarks such as “no” or “you’re not good enough,” noting that repeated criticism can deeply affect a child’s self-esteem and emotional well-being.

“Raise children differently,” she said. “Do not use your wounded past as a guide. Patience beats punishment, and honesty beats intimidation.”

Host Akosua Gyamfua supported the message, adding that children who understand their parents’ struggles are more likely to develop courage rather than fear.

The discussion ended with a strong call for families to break unhealthy emotional cycles at home and create safer, more supportive environments for children.
