Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (CDAG) has called on the government and Members of Parliament to give the same attention they’ve given to the conduction of by-elections to the passage of the Anti-LGBTQI+ Bill that was laid before them years ago.

According to the association, the process of the passage of the Anti-LGBTQI+ Bill laid before Parliament has been slow because the government has not shown keen interest in it.

“We are also calling on the parliament to give the same attention to the passage of the Anti LGBTQ+ as they in various constituencies during by-election”, the Concerned Drivers Association stated

Speaking to Nana Yaw Abrompah on Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM, Asonaba a member of the association stated categorically that, they blame the Majority in Parliament for the slow pace of the whole process.

“If the government needs a loan to be passed, they can call all MPs to Parliament so how come they are not able to do same on something that could bring a curse to the country?” he asked.

The drivers also chided Religious leaders for keeping quiet on the passage of the bill saying they have been sitting unconcerned.

The proponents of the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values 2021 bill are seeking to criminalize LGBTQ+ practice in Ghana.

Should it be passed, persons who identify as LGBTQ and or engage in such practice could face up to five years of imprisonment.

LGBT activists could also face up to a 10-year jail term.
