Dennis Miracles Aboagye says his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has strengthened, rather than weakened, his resolve to serve the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a statement issued after his release, Mr. Aboagye said he remained “unbroken” and “more ready than ever” to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the party.
According to him, he was picked up and detained by EOCO a day after announcing his intention to seek the position. He alleged that a false narrative was circulated about the circumstances surrounding his arrest but expressed confidence that the truth would ultimately prevail.
Mr. Aboagye further stated that at no point during his engagement with EOCO was there any discussion with him regarding the alleged GH¢55 million fraud case that has been linked to his arrest.
He expressed gratitude to NPP supporters who demonstrated and spoke out in his defence, saying their support gave him strength while he was in detention. According to him, the demonstrations were not only in support of his person but also in defence of the principle that citizens should not be intimidated into silence.
Mr. Aboagye maintained that the experience had only reinforced his determination, insisting that no amount of intimidation would discourage him from pursuing his ambition to lead the NPP’s Communications Directorate.
He also thanked his legal team, the party leadership, and supporters for standing by him throughout the period of his detention, describing the journey as a collective one.
The statement comes days after EOCO detained Mr. Aboagye over an alleged GH¢55 million fraud investigation, a case that has generated significant public and political debate.
