Election 2024: Tema Police Command assures journalists of maximum security

The Tema Regional Police Command has assured journalists in the Region of their safety and security during the 2024 Elections.

The Tema Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Barnabas Nasumong, who gave the assurance said as part of strategies to safeguard journalists, the Command would provide liaison officers to various media organisations to coordinate their security needs during the elections.  

He said this at an engagement between the media and the police on security arrangements to ensure a safe working environment for journalists on Monday November 25, 2024

DCOP Barnabas Nasumong said the initiative was to ensure good communication and coordination between the media and the police for a peaceful 2024 elections.  

He added that key aspect of the initiative was to allocate police officers to media houses to establish a direct link between the two bodies for security related matters.  

He commended the media practitioners for their support to the security agencies over the years and asked them to exhibit high professional standards to help make the December 7 polls a success.
