E/R: Six Fear Drown In Afram River

10 JHS Students Drown In Oti River While Returning From Headmaster’s Farm

Six person are feared drowned in Afram River in Afram Plains South district of Eastern region.

The incident occured Thursday morning of November 9, 2023 at Agyata Electoral Area when eight(8) persons were crossing the river from Azietsi -Korpe a village near Agyata community.

Two of the victims however managed to swim to safety and were rescued.

The six others have not been found.

Assembly member of the Area Johnson Anglesinya,said the people were labourers hired from Maame-krobo and its environs to work in a commercial farm.

Stephen Afram ,the Afram Plains South District Director of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) told Mybrytfmonline.com that, the organization is mobilizing rescue team of Police ,Fire Service and Ambulance service to the scene and with collaboration with local divers embark on rescue operation.
