The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted the Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Mr Zakaria Abdulai, pending a full-scale investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving students.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the GES said the decision takes immediate effect, with Mr Abdulai directed to make himself available to assist with the investigation.

According to the Service, the alleged incident reportedly triggered a student rampage, resulting in the destruction of school property and other items, and the subsequent temporary closure of the school.

As part of the interdiction, Mr Abdulai has been directed to hand over the management of the school to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education.

The GES also confirmed that a complaint has been lodged with the Police as investigations into the allegations proceed.

Management of the Service assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding the safety of students and staff, as well as upholding the highest standards of professional conduct in schools.

The GES has not disclosed further details of the allegations as the investigation remains ongoing.
