A billboard seeking to promote tolerance for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) community in Tamale has been brought down as residents register their displeasure over the mounting of the billboard in the metropolis.

The billboard had on it ” love, tolerance, and acceptance” with colours usually associated with the LGBTQ+ community. But the residents had no tolerance for it at all as they torn it apart in fury.

l and their indefatigable MP, Comrade Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed for their swift action when duty called in defense of our culture, tradition and the Constitution.

So long as they have the money to mount those obnoxious billboards, we would have the energy and zest to bring them down. Long may Article 3 of the 1992 Constitution live,” he wrote.

A similar billboard mounted in Accra was also pulled down as a section of the public registered their displeasure. The LGBTQ+ community was angered by the removal.

Ghana is a largely conservative society and appears very unwelcoming to the LGBTQ+.
