Accra Mayor gives mechanics final ultimatum to clear Dadeban Loop ahead of road works

Accra Mayor gives mechanics final ultimatum to clear Dadeban Loop ahead of road works

The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has issued a final ultimatum to operators of a mechanic workshop at Dadeban Loop, near Winners Chapel in the North Industrial Area, to remove all vehicles parked along the street by Monday, November 2, 2026, ahead of planned road construction works.

The directive was issued on October 26, 2026, during a working visit to the area, where the Mayor engaged six leaders of the mechanic workshop over the continued occupation of portions of the road earmarked for construction.

Mr Allotey explained that the road project formed part of the government’s infrastructure development agenda under President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Ghana Agenda, aimed at improving road infrastructure, accessibility and economic activities.

He warned that the presence of vehicles along the affected stretch could obstruct construction activities and delay the project.

The Mayor disclosed that the affected mechanics had been provided with financial assistance to facilitate the relocation of their vehicles, stressing that the support was intended to minimise disruptions to their businesses.

He, therefore, urged the operators to comply with the directive, emphasising that the November 2 deadline was final.

Mr Allotey also directed mechanics operating along First Close and Ninth Street, near Eden Garden Hotel, to vacate the streets, warning that vehicles belonging to defaulters would be towed away by the Assembly.

He acknowledged the economic contributions of mechanics and other artisans within the industrial enclave but maintained that their activities should not obstruct public roads or impede the free movement of vehicles.

During the engagement, the workshop operators confirmed receiving financial support to facilitate the removal of their vehicles and indicated that arrangements had been made to vacate the affected area ahead of the construction works.

The Dadeban Loop road project is expected to improve vehicular movement, enhance access to businesses and industrial facilities, and address road infrastructure challenges within the North Industrial Area.
