The Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, the principal suspect in the killing of two persons at NTHC Estate in Sakumono.
The suspect, who had been on the run following the incident, was arrested from his hideout on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The Police announced his arrest in a post on X, indicating that further details would be communicated.
“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police stated.
His arrest follows the earlier apprehension of a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, who is suspected of leading Christopher to the victims’ residence before the killings.
The victims have been identified as 57-year-old George Atubiga and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atubiga. They were shot dead at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the incident may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving an alleged GH¢500,000 debt owed by George Atubiga to Christopher.
According to police accounts, Christopher visited the victims’ residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Mumuni, to demand repayment of the money.
A misunderstanding reportedly ensued during the confrontation, during which Christopher allegedly shot and killed the two relatives.
The victims were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival by a medical officer. Their bodies were subsequently deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Christopher’s arrest brings the two key suspects in the case into police custody as investigations continue.
