People who lose their parents at an early age may need extra love, patience and emotional support from their partners, an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practitioner, Abrema May, has advised.
Speaking on Nyansapo Fie, Plan B FM’s family, relationship and lifestyle programme hosted by Akosua Gyamfua. The guest, Abrema May observed that people who lose their parents may not always receive the same level of affection and attention from extended family members.
She explained that although relatives may promise to care for them, finding someone who genuinely provides the emotional support and parental affection they need can be difficult.
She noted that the experience may leave some individuals feeling rejected, bitter or emotionally withdrawn. According to her, they may sometimes compare their partners with their deceased parents because they long for the love, security and care they once received.
Abrema May urged partners to exercise patience, understanding and compassion when dealing with individuals who have experienced early parental loss. She emphasized the need to offer reassurance, sound advice and consistent affection, while recognizing that their emotional needs may require extra attention.
