Mr. Fummey Dickson has disclosed that measures are being taken to address the persistent water challenges confronting residents of the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN show hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Mr. Fummey said Kpone-Katamanso has several Ghana Water facilities, with an additional region established at Gbetsile to improve access to water.
He explained that the move was necessary due to the growing population of the constituency, adding that the additional facility would help residents access water closer to their communities and reduce the water crisis.
According to him, during the election period, the major concern raised by residents of Kpone-Katamanso was poor roads, but the water crisis became another pressing issue after the elections. He said he and the Member of Parliament had to take steps to address the situation, leading to the appointment of Hon. Mutah Wakiru to help tackle the water challenge.
Mr. Fummey added that officials visited several Ghana Water branches at Adjei Kojo, Santoe, Ashaiman Timber Market, Gbetsile, Dodowa and Prampram as part of efforts to identify the cause of the problem. He said they were later informed that the transmission line from the Asutsuare Junction was faulty, with some of the pipelines having been in use for more than 60 years.
He further explained that when the Managing Director of Ghana Water and his technical team inspected the affected areas, they discovered leakages along the pipelines. The leakages were subsequently repaired as part of efforts to restore reliable water supply to residents of Kpone-Katamanso.
