The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a transformer fire at Pipeline-Salam Junction in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Monday, October 6, 2026, after the GNFS received an emergency call at 6:46 a.m.
A nine-member firefighting crew led by ADO II Boakye and Assistant Officer Korda was dispatched at 6:48 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 7:04 a.m.
For the safety of the firefighters and the public, power supply from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) was disconnected before firefighting operations commenced.
The fire was brought under control at 7:26 a.m. and fully extinguished at 7:31 a.m.
According to the GNFS, damage was limited to partial burning of the pole and a cut-out fuse.
Preliminary investigations have attributed the incident to an electrical fault.
