IMAH CEO Dr Med Ned Vitus Victor Anaab-Bisi announces free breast cancer screening, discounts for walk-in clients

IMAH launches 2026 Pink October campaign, urges early breast cancer detection

The Chief Executive Officer of the International Maritime Hospital (IMAH), Dr Med Ned Vitus Victor Anaab-Bisi, has announced a package of free breast cancer screening and discounted diagnostic services for walk-in clients as part of the hospital’s 2026 Pink October campaign.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign in Tema Community 3, Dr Anaab-Bisi said IMAH would organise a free health screening exercise later in October for clients who walk into the facility.

He said the hospital would also offer massive discounts on mammogram and ultrasound scans for clients who require further breast cancer checks.

According to Dr Anaab-Bisi, the initiative forms part of IMAH’s efforts to make breast cancer screening more accessible while promoting early detection and treatment.

The campaign, being held under the theme “Early Action, Better Outcomes,” is aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and encouraging members of the public to take their breast health seriously.

Dr Anaab-Bisi said breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting women, with Ghana recording more than 5,400 new cases in 2024, while 2,695 deaths were recorded from the disease.

He expressed concern about late presentation, noting that many patients seek medical attention when the disease has already progressed, making treatment more complicated and outcomes poorer.

He stressed that breast cancer detected and treated early offers better treatment prospects than cases diagnosed at an advanced stage.

Beyond the screening package, Dr Anaab-Bisi said IMAH would intensify breast cancer education and awareness in communities and workplaces and extend its activities to corporate partners.

He urged the public to learn the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and take advantage of the screening opportunities being provided by the hospital.

Dr Anaab-Bisi encouraged individuals who notice unusual changes in their breasts not to delay seeking medical attention, emphasising the importance of early action in improving outcomes.
