Rev. Benjamin Boateng urges youth to correct misplaced priorities and reclaim their future

Rev. Benjamin Boateng urges youth to correct misplaced priorities and reclaim their future

Reverend Benjamin Boateng has urged young people to learn from their past mistakes, correct misplaced priorities and take deliberate steps to rebuild their future.

Speaking on Nyansapo Fie on Plan B FM with host Akosua Gyamfua, Rev. Boateng said regret remains a major burden for many people, particularly when they dwell excessively on past failures, missed opportunities and wrong decisions.

He explained that although regret is often rooted in past experiences, allowing it to dominate one’s life can lead to emotional pain, shame and stagnation.

According to him, relationship failures, financial mistakes, unhealthy attachments, toxic friendships and destructive habits such as alcohol and drug abuse are among the common sources of regret.

He also highlighted family-related issues, noting that unresolved personal challenges can gradually damage relationships and create lasting divisions among family members.

Rev. Boateng expressed particular concern about the challenges confronting the youth, saying many young people are increasingly struggling with confusion and misplaced priorities.

He noted that the pursuit of short-term pleasure at the expense of education, skills development, career growth and personal discipline often leaves young people unprepared for the future.

He therefore encouraged young people who are experiencing job rejections, career setbacks or other disappointments not to resort to alcohol or hard drugs as a coping mechanism.

Rather, he urged them to remain hopeful, acquire new skills, explore fresh opportunities and make conscious efforts to change the circumstances confronting them.

Rev. Boateng stressed that time waits for no one and advised the youth to make effective use of the opportunities available to them instead of allowing past disappointments to dictate their future.

He further emphasized that regret should not become the defining chapter of anyone’s life, insisting that while the past cannot be changed, individuals can still influence their future through the decisions they make today.

He called on young people to reassess their priorities, focus on self-improvement and adopt positive habits that will enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.

According to Rev. Boateng, it is never too late for anyone to make a fresh start and transform a life marked by regret into one of purpose, growth and success.
