The Ghana Education Service (GES) says two individuals have been arrested and arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court 6 over their alleged involvement in demanding money from applicants in connection with the ongoing GES recruitment exercise.
According to GES Management, four suspects were identified in relation to the alleged activities, with two arrested and currently facing due process before the court, while the other two remain at large.
The Service says the arrests were carried out in collaboration with the security agencies as part of efforts to protect the integrity of the recruitment process and safeguard applicants from fraudsters.
GES has stressed that recruitment into the Service is free and conducted through established procedures.
Management has also rejected suggestions that a scandal has hit the Ghana Education Service or the ongoing recruitment exercise, saying the identification and arrest of the suspects demonstrate its proactive monitoring of the process.
The Service has therefore cautioned applicants and the general public against paying money to individuals who claim they can secure recruitment, appointment letters or placements within the Ghana Education Service.
GES has assured the public that it will continue to take decisive action against persons who attempt to defraud applicants or tarnish the reputation of the Service.
Management is also calling on the public to support efforts to combat corruption and fraud by promptly reporting suspected cases and providing relevant information to the security agencies to facilitate investigations and arrests.
