The Ministry of the Interior has inaugurated a new Audit Committee as part of efforts to strengthen accountability, safeguard public funds and improve corporate governance within its institutions.

The inauguration ceremony, held in Accra on Monday, July 27, was led by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting transparency and sound financial management across the public sector.

Addressing the gathering, the minister commended the outgoing Audit Committee, led by Chairman Richard Ntim, for what he described as its selfless dedication and contribution to maintaining the ministry’s strong record of financial discipline.

“I wish to express my sincerest gratitude to the outgoing chairman, Mr. Richard Ntim, and members of the previous committee for your selfless dedication in ensuring the effectiveness of the Ministry’s Audit Committee,” Muntaka said.

The newly inaugurated committee is expected to oversee the ministry’s internal audit processes, strengthen financial oversight and ensure compliance with public financial management regulations.

The Ministry said the move forms part of broader government efforts to enhance accountability, protect the public purse and reinforce good governance in public institutions.
