Ibrahim Mahama denies Interest in acquiring VALCO, threatens legal Action Over False Claims

Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has dismissed claims that he is interested in acquiring the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO), describing the reports as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by his Special Aide, Rafik Mahama, the businessman said his attention had been drawn to a demonstration by the VALCO Labour Union, during which some protesters alleged that he intended to take over the state-owned company.

The statement categorically denied the allegations, insisting that Mr. Mahama has no interest in acquiring VALCO and has not made any offer to purchase the company.

According to the statement, the claims form part of what it described as “several vile attempts” to undermine Mr. Mahama’s integrity and unnecessarily drag him into public controversy.

It further stated that all of Mr. Mahama’s businesses have been established or acquired legally and operate within the framework of applicable laws, noting that their longevity over seven election cycles reflects their credibility and sound management.

The statement also reaffirmed Mr. Mahama’s commitment to contributing to Ghana’s development through investment in business opportunities both within the country and beyond.

Mr. Mahama has instructed his lawyers to initiate the necessary legal action against those responsible for the false publication and allegations, the statement added.
