NaCCA warns against use of unapproved learning materials in schools

NaCCA warns against use of unapproved learning materials in schools
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has cautioned publishers, schools, booksellers, retailers, and other stakeholders against the use and distribution of unapproved learner materials in Ghana’s pre-tertiary education system.

In a public notice, NaCCA reiterated that under the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023), it is the sole statutory body mandated to assess, approve, and recommend learner materials for use in pre-tertiary schools across the country.

The Council stated that all approved learner materials must carry the official NaCCA Approval QR Code, which enables users to verify the authenticity and approval status of the material before it is published, sold, or used in schools.

NaCCA expressed concern that some publishers are unlawfully using the Council’s logo on learner materials that have not undergone its approval process.

It described the practice as misleading, unauthorized, and a violation of the law.

The Council has therefore directed all publishers and individuals engaged in the practice to immediately cease using NaCCA’s name, logo, insignia, or any representation suggesting approval on unapproved materials.

NaCCA warned that failure to comply with the directive will attract appropriate regulatory and legal action against offenders.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the quality, integrity, and standards of education in Ghana and urged all stakeholders to ensure that only duly approved learner materials are procured and used in schools.

NaCCA advised the public to verify approved learner materials through its official verification channels before making purchases or using them in educational institutions.
