Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has thrown his support behind head coach Carlos Queiroz, insisting the Portuguese tactician is the right man to take Ghana to the next level despite the team’s FIFA World Cup exit.
Speaking after the Black Stars’ elimination from the tournament, Ayew expressed confidence in Queiroz’s leadership and urged the Ghana Football Association to maintain faith in the coach.
“I want Carlos Queiroz to stay. I feel he’s the right man to take us to the next level,” Ayew said.
The captain’s endorsement comes amid growing debate over Queiroz’s future following Ghana’s Round of 32 exit to Colombia. While some fans have called for a change in the dugout, Ayew believes continuity is essential for the team’s progress.
Queiroz took charge of the Black Stars with the aim of rebuilding the team and restoring Ghana’s competitiveness on the international stage. Ayew’s comments are likely to add weight to discussions over whether the Ghana Football Association should retain the experienced coach ahead of the team’s upcoming assignments.
