Rev. Maxwell Buddie has described a father figure as an influential man who provides emotional support, guidance, and positive mentorship, particularly in the absence of a biological father.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nyansapo Fie, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Rev. Buddie explained that father figures often assume key responsibilities typically associated with biological fathers, including offering guidance, encouragement, discipline, and emotional support. He stressed, however, that a father figure does not replace a biological father but helps bridge the gap where necessary.
According to him, the positive influence of a good father figure can significantly shape an individual’s character, decision-making, and overall well-being. He noted that many successful people attribute their achievements to the guidance, mentorship, and values instilled in them by father figures.
Drawing from the Bible, Rev. Buddie referenced Gospel of Luke 9:54, explaining that identifying someone as a father figure is often rooted in the relationship built over time, shared experiences, and the person’s positive influence on one’s life.
He concluded by urging society to appreciate, honour, and celebrate father figures who make meaningful contributions to the growth, development, and success of young people.
