A member of the NDC Communication Team in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency, Selorm Avedetsi, has dismissed reports suggesting that fuel prices have increased, insisting that the government’s fuel pricing regime remains unchanged.
His comments come in response to concerns raised by the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG), which has called on the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to investigate what it describes as unauthorised fuel price increases at some filling stations across the country.
In a statement issued on June 11, 2026, the association alleged that some filling stations, particularly Shell and TotalEnergies outlets, had increased pump prices despite no official review for the current pricing window. According to the group, fuel prices have risen from GH¢15.60 per litre to approximately GH¢15.90 per litre.
The association argued that the increase is placing an additional burden on commercial drivers, transport operators, and commuters who are already grappling with rising living costs and operational expenses.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkosuo Nsem, hosted by Abusuapanin Mireku, Selorm Avedetsi maintained that the government has maintained the same price floor mechanism since assuming office and that no changes have been made to warrant the claims of a fuel price hike.
He further accused the NPP of deliberately spreading such reports for partisan political gain, alleging that the opposition is attempting to mislead Ghanaians for its own political interests.
Mr. Avedetsi also touted the NDC’s economic management record, arguing that the party has demonstrated greater competence in managing the economy than the NPP. He urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and not be swayed by what he described as falsehoods and deceptive narratives.
