Dr. Alexander Amo Baffour has stated that the primary objective of the proposed Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill is to prevent same-sex intimate relationships from gaining social acceptance in Ghana.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen programme, hosted by Ohene Kennah, Dr. Amo Baffour argued that the absence of legislation addressing LGBTQ+ activities could potentially lead to social unrest.
Drawing comparisons with international practices, he cited China’s regulation of online content, noting that access to websites containing adult material has been restricted as part of efforts to control content deemed inappropriate.
Dr. Amo Baffour also questioned why some individuals born male identify as female, and vice versa. He further explained that while he supports the broader objectives of the bill, he does not fully endorse its current form, expressing concern that certain provisions were removed during the legislative process and questioning which specific sections were taken out.
