Four nurses arrested over alleged GH¢5 million theft

Four nurses at the Dr Amagashie Herbal Clinic in Kasoa have been arrested by police for allegedly diverting more than GH¢5 million in patient payments from the facility.

According to the clinic’s owner, Dr Amagashie, the suspects created an unofficial record book alongside the clinic’s official records and allegedly used it to conceal and divert funds paid by patients.

Speaking in a viral video shared by The State News on X on June 10, 2026, Dr Amagashie explained that the scheme involved underreporting the number of patients captured in the clinic’s official records.

“When, let’s say, 20 people come to the facility, they record only five in the official record and divert the remaining 15 in the separate book they have created,” he alleged.

Describing the incident as deeply troubling, Dr Amagashie said he reported the matter to the police after uncovering the alleged fraud.

“The truth is, if someone sets up a company and employees engage in such acts, it is very worrying. That is why I reported them to the police to have them arrested for investigations,” he said.

He disclosed that the police crime officer handling the case had assured him that the suspects would be arraigned before court on June 12, 2026, to face the law.

Dr Amagashie further urged Ghanaians to adopt attitudes that support the growth of private businesses, warning that misconduct by workers could undermine institutions and economic development.

He expressed concern that the suspects, who are reportedly nurses awaiting official postings, could carry similar attitudes into the public sector if corrective measures are not taken.
