The incident has sparked concern among Ghanaians living in South Africa as well as those following developments from home.

According to reports, Miss Akuffo sustained serious head injuries along with bruises on her arms and legs during the attack.

Eyewitnesses claim the assailants targeted her while she was working, leaving her injured and in need of immediate medical attention. The motive behind the attack has yet to be officially confirmed, but initial indications suggest xenophobic tensions may have been a factor.

The Ghana High Commission in South Africa has intervened promptly to ensure her safety. Arrangements have been made for her medical care, and officials are working diligently to organize her secure return to Ghana.

The Commission has assured the public that the case is being closely monitored and that Miss Akuffo’s well-being remains a priority.

This incident has drawn attention to the challenges faced by Ghanaian nationals and other foreign residents in South Africa, where xenophobic attacks have occasionally targeted immigrants running businesses.

Members of the Ghanaian community have called for increased protection and proactive measures to safeguard foreign nationals from such violence.
