President John Dramani Mahama has assented to ten Bills passed by Parliament, formally giving them legal effect as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen governance, public administration, national security and economic management.
The newly enacted laws cover a range of areas, including customs administration, community service, national defence, taxation, energy sector financing, cocoa sector management and maritime security.
The ten Bills are the Customs Bill, 2026; Community Service Bill, 2026; Tribunal Bills, 2026; Maritime and Related Offences Bill, 2026; National Defence University Bill, 2026; Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026; Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Bill, 2026; Ghana Cocoa Board Bill, 2026; Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026; and Excise Bill, 2026.
The enactments are expected to provide updated legal frameworks for the administration of key state institutions and sectors while supporting reforms in Ghana’s economic and public administration systems.
The legislation also forms part of the government’s broader legislative agenda aimed at modernising existing laws, improving institutional effectiveness and strengthening the country’s governance and economic framework.
With the President’s assent, the Bills have now become law, paving the way for the relevant institutions to begin implementing the provisions contained in the new legislation.
