A woman in her late 40s has been arrested for allegedly burying her grandchild alive at Akrofoso-Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The suspect, identified as Akua Abrokwaa, according to residents, allegedly buried the child immediately after birth with claims that the father of the child had refused to accept responsibility.

Speaking to OTEC News Reporter, Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Wednesday, the Assembly Member for the area, Quaino Dadzie, said they discovered the act a day after it occurred.[surname]

He noted that the baby was already decomposing when police led the suspect to exhume the body.

“I was informed by residents who suspected foul play in the whole incident. When I approached the woman, she said her daughter had not given birth but later admitted the child had died,” he said.

“Police led her to the scene where the child was buried, and the body was exhumed,” he added.

The suspect has subsequently been arrested by the police and is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
