Sam Anoon, a member of the Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema Central Constituency, has urged Ghanaians to remain calm amid recent power outages popularly referred to as “dumsor.”
According to him, the current situation should not be described as a return to the prolonged power crisis experienced in previous years, but rather as a temporary technical challenge being addressed by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), GRIDCo, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure stable power supply.
His comments come on the back of growing concerns over intermittent power outages in parts of the country in recent days.
Meanwhile, the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has warned that the recent disruptions have exposed serious vulnerabilities within Ghana’s manufacturing sector. The Association noted that the unstable power supply is placing additional pressure on industries already grappling with high operating costs.
Speaking at the Sustainable Energy B2B Expo 2026 under the theme “Powering Industry through Sustainable Energy,” President of AGI, Dr. Pharm. Kofi Nsiah-Poku, stressed that energy has now become more than just a production cost, describing it as a major structural constraint on industrial growth and competitiveness.
He warned that manufacturers are increasingly under pressure due to rising production costs and growing global sustainability demands, calling for urgent reforms in Ghana’s energy architecture to sustain industrial transformation.
However, speaking on Plan B FM’s “Nkosuo Nsem,” Sam Anoon expressed confidence that the situation would soon improve, stating that engineers are working around the clock to resolve the technical difficulties.
He further commended the government for efforts being made to restore confidence in the energy sector, arguing that the current administration inherited a struggling energy system from the previous government, which he claimed failed to add a single megawatt to the national power grid.
Mr. Anoon again appealed to the public to exercise patience, assuring that the challenges would soon be resolved to ensure continuous and stable electricity supply across the country.
