Assistant coach Desmond Offei will take charge of Ghana’s senior national team when the Black Stars face Mexico in an international friendly in Puebla on Friday, May 22, following the absence of head coach Carlos Queiroz due to personal reasons.

Offei, who has overseen the team’s preparations since arriving in Mexico, will lead the technical bench with support from goalkeepers’ trainer Daniel Gaspar and set-piece coach and video analyst Gregory De Grauwe.

The friendly forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars have been drawn in a difficult group alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

The match against Mexico will give the technical team another chance to assess the squad as preparations continue for the tournament.
