DOL: FC AshantiGold 04 seal Ghana Premier League promotion with emphatic win over Skyy FC

DOL: FC AshantiGold 04 seal Ghana Premier League promotion with emphatic win over Skyy FC

FC AshantiGold 04 have secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League after a 4-1 win over Skyy FC, confirming their place in the top flight with three matches to spare in Zone II.

The side, guided by former Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito, produced a commanding performance to seal promotion and underline their consistency throughout the campaign.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for the club, which has emerged as one of the strongest sides in the division this season.

Despite the familiar name and base in Obuasi, FC AshantiGold 04 is a separate entity from the original AshantiGold SC. The historic club was suspended and demoted to Division Two by the Ghana Football Association following a match-fixing scandal during the 2020/21 season.

FC AshantiGold 04, by contrast, is a rebranded version of Bekwai Heroes FC Ltd, formed to compete in the 2025/26 Access Bank Division One League and represent the Adansiman area.

The GFA has clarified that the new club is legally distinct from the former AshantiGold SC and does not carry any of its liabilities or sanctions, despite similarities in name and identity.

With promotion secured, attention now turns to preparations for life in the top tier, as Karim Zito’s side look to establish themselves in the Ghana Premier League.
