A communication team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema West Constituency, James Tamakloe, has described comments by Ada Member of Parliament Comfort Doyoe comparing the NPP to “armed robbers” as “funny and unfounded.”
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkosuo Nsem programme hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, Tamakloe was reacting to a political remark by the Ada lawmaker that has sparked debate online.
Doyoe, who represents the Ada Constituency and serves as the First Deputy Majority Whip in Parliament, reportedly stated that if politicians are generally regarded as crooks, then members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be “pickpockets,” while those in the NPP would be “armed robbers.” Her remarks surfaced on social media on March 14, 2026.
According to the MP, the comment reflected her personal assessment of the conduct of the two major political parties based on her observations within Ghana’s legislative chambers. She suggested that alleged misconduct associated with the NPP in government was more severe than that of the NDC.
But Tamakloe rejected the comparison, insisting the statement was politically motivated and lacked substance. He argued that the NDC, which has been in power for more than a year, had consistently accused officials of the previous administration under former President Nana Akufo-Addo of embezzling state funds and looting the national coffers.
However, he said the government had yet to present credible evidence or secure convictions to support those allegations.
Tamakloe therefore urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and not be swayed by what he described as propaganda from the current administration, insisting that any claims of corruption should be backed by proof and pursued through the appropriate legal channels.
