Nurses and Midwifery Training College, Nalerugu Principal suspended over unauthorized admissions

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed the immediate suspension of the Principal of the Nurses and Midwifery Training College, Nalerugu, over alleged unauthorized admissions.

The decision was announced during the Minister’s working tour of the Upper East, North-East and Northern Regions, where he inspected health facilities and training institutions to evaluate their operations and service delivery.

According to officials, the Minister had earlier received briefings concerning irregular admissions at the Nalerugu-based institution. He subsequently visited the college to assess the situation firsthand. Following preliminary findings, he ordered the immediate suspension of the Head of the College pending further investigations.

The Minister underscored that compliance with established admission procedures is non-negotiable, stressing that any head of institution found to have engaged in unauthorized practices would face strict sanctions.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the enforcement of high standards across health training institutions nationwide.

Further investigations are expected to determine the full scope of the alleged irregularities and any additional administrative actions that may be required.
