Cement truck overturns at Breku forest, one killed, two pulled alive from wreckage

Cement truck overturns at Breku forest, one killed, two pulled alive from wreckage
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A routine journey along the busy Accra–Kumasi Highway ended in tragedy on Sunday, January 25, 2026, after a cement-laden Howo Sinotruk truck overturned at Breku Forest near the Pra River in the Ashanti Region.

The crash left three occupants trapped inside the vehicle, prompting a swift emergency response. Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) mounted a coordinated rescue operation, successfully extricating two survivors from the twisted wreckage.

The injured victims were immediately transferred to the Ghana National Ambulance Service and conveyed in ambulance GV-589-20 to the Juaso Government Hospital for urgent medical care.

Sadly, one occupant was discovered lifeless at the scene. The body was retrieved by emergency personnel and handed over to the Police to aid investigations and for onward transfer to the morgue.

The impact severely damaged the front section of the truck, highlighting the force of the crash. Authorities say investigations are underway to determine what led to the accident.

If you want, I can tighten it further for radio copy, turn it into a straight news brief, or add a safety-angle kicker.
