Speaking on the Nyansapo Fie show on Plan B 104.5 FM, Lady Elizabeth Kesiwaa Nortey expressed concern over gender-based stereotypes that continue to limit women’s progress.
She explained that some men are uncomfortable when their wives or partners pursue higher education or earn more money than they do, due to the belief that men alone should be responsible for providing for the home. According to her, this mindset also affects the way some parents treat their children, as they often invest more in the education of boys while expecting girls to remain in the kitchen.
Lady Nortey further highlighted that stereotyping also exists within the church. She noted that pastors are sometimes judged based on strict expectations regarding their attire, and any deviation from these norms leads to unfair labelling.
She called for a change in these attitudes to promote fairness, respect, and equal opportunities for all.
