The former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has had his application seeking to overturn a High Court decision, which had refused their request for further disclosures by the Attorney General, dismissed.
The application filed on Adu-Boahene and his wife Angela Adjei Boateng’s behalf was quashed by the Court of Appeal, 3news.com reports.
Court dismisses Adu-Boahene’s request for National Security financial records since 1992
The report indicated that counsel for the accused persons, Samuel Atta Akyea, argued before the Court of Appeal on Monday, November 3, 2025, that the prosecution’s failure to disclose the National Security operational accounts from 1992 to date could negatively affect his clients’ case.
The three-justice panel, however, rejected the application, stating that the prosecution’s case should continue as the defense had not provided any reason to pause the proceedings or overturn the High Court’s decision.
Background
In June 2025, Adu-Boahene and the other accused persons, through their lawyer, requested the release of operational account details of the National Security Coordinators since 1992 for his inspection in his ongoing prosecution.
He argued that the release of the account details would ensure a fair trial.
Their formal request, filed by lead counsel Samuel Atta Akyea, specifically demanded “the various National Security Coordinators’ operational accounts” for all governments from 1992 to date, including those of Presidents Rawlings, Kufuor, Atta Mills, Mahama, and Akufo-Addo.
The lawyer contended that “the production of these documents is vital to the constitutional right of the accused to a fair trial, particularly in a case where questions about financial oversight and accountability lie at the heart of the allegations.”

He further added that “full transparency of how national security funds have been handled over the decades will help establish the broader context within which the accused persons operated.”
However, the High Court in Accra in July 2025 dismissed the request hence, leading them to proceed to the Court of Appeal.
