Ghana’s representatives in the 2025-2026 CAF Club Competitions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars, have been handed the Ghana cedi equivalent of $50,000 by Ghana’s Presidency.
At a meeting with President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama, the clubs were informed about the cash injection into their campaign during President Mahama’s address.
Gold Stars are representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League while Kotoko are representing Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup.
“We know football is an expensive activity especially when you are going out to the continent and so working with my Chief of Staff, we have a token for you…we have $50,000 for each of the two clubs.”

“At least, it will help defray some of the cost of the tickets and the accommodation that you will have to rent when you get into Africa” President Mahama said.

Since visiting the President, Gold Stars have lost 2-0 to Algeria’s JS Kabylie ahead of the second leg of teh contest while Kotoko take on Nigeria’s Kwara United on Sunday, September 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium at 15:00 GMT.
