Richard Selorm Avedetsi, a communicator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ningo-Prampram constituency, has called for a review of Ghana’s governance structure to extend the presidential term from four years to five.
Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem, Mr. Avedetsi argued that the first year of every government is largely consumed by preparations and adjustments, leaving only three active years for the implementation of policies. According to him, this short cycle hampers continuity and development.
He further highlighted the difficulties businesses face when trying to establish in Ghana, stressing that the bureaucratic processes often create unnecessary stress for entrepreneurs. He urged a review of the rules and procedures to make Ghana more business-friendly.
Touching on the NDC’s flagship 24-hour economy policy, Mr. Avedetsi assured the public that its implementation is on course, describing it as a procedural process that requires patience. He expressed confidence that with the NDC holding a majority in Parliament, the policy is rest assured to succeed.
