The Movement for Change has expressed its deepest condolences to Otumfuo Osei Tutu Ababio II, the Royal Family, and the people of Asanteman on the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom Ill.
According to the party, the late Asantehemaa was not only a mother to Asanteman but a guiding light to the entire nation, whose reign was marked by wisdom, dignity, and an unwavering dedication to unity, peace, and the preservation of our cherished traditions.
A statement issued and signed by the Spokesperson of the Movement For Change, Solomon Owusu recognised her invaluable contributions.
“Through her counsel and steadfast leadership, she strengthened the bonds of kinship and harmony both within the Kingdom and across Ghana.
“Her transition to the ancestral realm is a monumental loss, not only for Asanteman but for all Ghanaians. The Movement for Change mourns with you in this time of great sorrow and calls for calm, reflection, and the sustaining grace of the Almighty upon our land especially in the midst of the other tragic circumstances that have recently befallen our nation,” the statement said.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, officially announced the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at an Asanteman Council meeting at the Manhyia Palace on Monday August 11, 2025.
The one-week observance of the passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025.
The 91-year-old Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who reigned for eight years, died on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the age of 83, succeeded Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II in 2017.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the elder sister of Otumfuo Osei Tutu and daughter of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who passed away at age 109 on November 15, 2016, after reigning for 39 years as Asantehemaa.
