A leading figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Kobina Arthur Kennedy, has called on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to issue a public apology to Ghanaians, citing years of hardship, impunity, and corruption under his leadership.

Speaking during a media discussion on the NPP’s internal elections, Arthur Kennedy disclosed that he had picked up from reliable sources that former President John Agyekum Kufuor had advised Akufo-Addo to apologise to the Ghanaian people. According to him, that suggestion is not only wise but absolutely necessary.

“I have heard from the grapevine that President Kufuor has suggested to President Akufo-Addo to apologise to Ghanaians.

This is an advice I agree with. He must apologise.

There was impunity, there was corruption, there was arrogance of power, there was hardship,” Dr. Kennedy stated firmly.

His comments come in the wake of former President Kufuor’s own public expression of concern at the inaugural ceremony of the Patriotic Institute, where he questioned the party’s recent political trajectory.

“How come our fortunes have been dwindling since 2016, 2020, and now our current state?” Mr. Kufuor asked, pointing to the party’s evident decline in public trust and electoral success.

In response, Arthur Kennedy pointed fingers at the Akufo-Addo administration, accusing it of displaying a nonchalant attitude while Ghanaians struggled with worsening economic conditions.

“The electorates endured all that and decided to give them the sack during the election,” he said, referring to the party’s significant losses and declining popularity.
