The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Friday, July 4, 2025, has been declared a public holiday across Ghana.

In a press release issued on Thursday, June 26, the Ministry stated that although Tuesday, July 1, marks Republic Day, the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, has officially declared Friday, July 4 as a public holiday through an Executive Instrument (E.I).

The declaration is in line with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2021 (Act 601).

The release, signed by Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, urged the general public to observe the holiday nationwide.

This decision effectively creates a long weekend for many Ghanaians, as the holiday falls on a Friday.
