Former Subin Member of Parliament, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has warned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot reclaim power in the 2028 general elections if it relies on the efforts of individual factions instead of promoting unity.
Speaking in an interview on Accra based Afom FM, the former Deputy Minister for Works and Housing stressed the need for collaboration among all party stakeholders, cautioning that internal divisions could derail the party’s chances.
“Former President Kufuor said it all—when you are given power temporarily, it doesn’t mean you own the party. I believe in a tradition, not a faction, because a camp or faction cannot win power,” he stated.
He added, “None of the presidential aspirants’ camps, including Bawumia, Ken, Joe Ghartey, Adutwum, Bryan Acheampong—none of them can single-handedly secure power for us unless we unite.”
Mr. Antwi described the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections as a necessary wake-up call and urged the party to prioritise internal healing and reform.
“We must fix ourselves first. We need to reconnect with the people and rebuild the trust of Ghanaians,” he said.
He further called for a return to the party’s foundational principles.
“We must realign our party with the values of the founding fathers. We must revisit the traditions and ideologies on which the party was built,” he urged.
