‘I don’t Know Her’ – Julius Debrah Denies Influencing NPA Deputy CEO’s Appointment

‘I don’t Know Her’ – Julius Debrah Denies Influencing NPA Deputy CEO’s Appointment
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has denied any form of association or influence in the continued tenure of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Linda Boamah Asante.

According to a news article published by mynewsgh.com on Monday, April 21, 2025, Linda Boamah Asante, who was appointed Deputy CEO of the NPA by then-President Akufo-Addo in 2022, remains in her position despite the departure of Perry Okudzeto, with whom she was appointed, following the exit of the Akufo-Addo government.

The report alleged that Linda Boamah Asante, who is closely associated with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has maneuvered to retain her role as Director of Inspections, Monitoring, and Health, Safety, and Environment (IM&HSE) at the NPA, with the alleged blessing of Chief of Staff Julius Debrah.

However, in response to the article, the Chief of Staff denied having any contact or association with the Deputy CEO.

“I’ve never met her in my life, neither do I even know her,” the Chief of Staff told GhanaWeb.

Following John Mahama’s assumption of the presidency on January 7, 2025, after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) victory in the December 2024 election, his administration initiated actions leading to the dismissal or cessation of appointments of heads of various state institutions in Ghana.

Despite criticism from the opposition, some persons within the government have argued that these actions are legal and align with a historical pattern in Ghanaian politics, where new administrations replace key institutional leaders appointed by their predecessors to align governance with new policy priorities or to consolidate political control.
