President John Dramani Mahama has directed a comprehensive investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The allegations were raised by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, during a press conference on Tuesday April 1, 2025.

In a statement shared on Facebook, President Mahama emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing the issue with transparency and urgency.

He has instructed key investigative agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to collaborate with Rev. Fordjour and thoroughly examine the claims.

The President assured the public that all necessary measures would be taken to expose and combat drug trafficking.

Highlighting the government’s zero-tolerance policy on drug-related activities, President Mahama pointed to a recent high-profile drug bust by the NIB, which seized narcotics valued at $350 million.

He reiterated Ghana’s stance against being used as a transit or destination for illicit drugs, underscoring the importance of safeguarding the nation’s security and reputation.
