GPL: Bibiani GoldStars Go Top After Beating Heart of Lions, Kotoko Face Chelsea Next

Bibiani Gold Stars’ fight for this year’s Ghana Premier League title was given a boost after finishing off third-placed Heart of Lions 2-1 in a Matchday 21 outstanding game.

Samuel Atta Kumi scored in the 14th minute while Gideon Anaba doubled the lead four minutes to the end of the first half to give the Miners a 2-0 lead into the break.

Lions could only halve the deficit through Nana Kwame Oppong in the 60th minute. He connected to Kwesi Pong’s cross with a header.

The result at the Bibiani Dun’s Park gives Gold Stars vital three points to move above Asante Kotoko on the log.

The Western North side go to the top with 44 points, two more than Asante Kotoko’s.

The Porcupine Warriors have tough clash against Berekum Chelsea in their outstanding Matchday 21 game.

A win will take the Reds back on top. Any other result will see them trail the Miners.

In the other game played on Tuesday, Medeama SC came from a goal down to beat regional rivals Basake Holy Stars 2-1 to overtake Hearts of Oak in fourth place.
