a, a farming community in the Tain District of the Bono Region was thrown into a state of grief and disbelief, when a 36-year-old illegal miner allegedly hanged himself.
The grief-stricken residents woke up to discover the lifeless body of the late Charles Gyan, popularly known as ‘teacher Kwadwo’ hanging on a tree, with the neck tied with a rope in the early hours of Friday March 7, 2025.
Hitherto, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that the deceased, a professional teacher, stopped teaching, and was engaging in illegal mining at Hani, a nearby village.
Speaking in an interview with the GNA, Mr Seth Boamah, the Assembly member for the Brofoyedu Electoral Area explained that the deceased had earlier informed his son that he (deceased) was travelling and gave him (son) a bag for safe keeping.
“The deceased returned from Hani to Seikwa only yesterday”, he stated, saying the police had since deposited the body at a morgue, as investigations continued.
