Curfew imposed on Tema Newtown for purification rites

The Tema Traditional Council will impose a curfew on the Tema Newtown township on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM to allow for the performance of purification rites.

Speaking in an interview with Plan B FM, Nii Sipii, a spokesperson for the Traditional Council, stated that during the ceremony, only the traditional priest will be permitted to be outside.

The purification ritual aims to cleanse the land of curses placed during the 2024 Kplejoo festival, which led to the deaths of two youths.

Nyaado Nii Dede Agbo Hamler, the Second Aboitse We Wolomo, will perform the rites to invoke the gods and ancestors to bless the land.
