SSNIT: Osafo-Maafo’s son, three deputies sacked

The government has revoked the appointment of Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo as Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

Plan B sources confirm that the contracts of his three deputies have also been terminated.

The three deputies are,  Kwame Adu-Darkwa, Deputy Director-General, Finance and Administration, Ms. Juliana Kpedekpo, Deputy Director-General, Operations and Benefits as well as Nana Serwah Bonsu Amoako, Deputy Director-General, Investment and Development.

However, no official replacements have been named as the President is yet to appoint a new Director General and deputies.

In April 2024, then President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo terminated the appointment of Dr. John Ofori Tenkorang as the Director-General of SSNIT and replaced him with Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo.

Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo is the son of Yaw Osafo-Maafo – a political figure and former Presidential Advisor in the erstwhile Nana Akufo-Addo administration.

Dr. Ofori Tenkorang’s removal saw his then Deputy Director-General in charge of Finance and Administration – Michael Addo, resigning with immediate effect.

Osafo-Maafo’s appointment also saw Pearl Nana Ama Darko, formerly the Deputy Director-General for Operations and Benefits, reassigned to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) as Commissioner for Support Services.

She was then replaced by the outgoing Deputy Director General in charge of Operations and Benefits, Juliana Kpedekpo.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to announce fresh names to fill the positions in the coming days.
