Some Concerned NPP Dome Kwabenya supporters have fired shots at the defeated parliamentary candidate in the 2024 parliamentary election, Mike Oquaye Jnr.

When he saw the way the grounds were he was not able to come, I was there from day one, NPP Dome Kwabenya constituency executives, and parliamentary candidates they have disappointed us, they have disgraced us”.

They added, “Concerned NPP Dome Kwabenya Mike Oquaye Jnr he is not a parliamentary candidate anymore, he was a polling station delegate when he was going to contest for the MP he resigned so he is just like me, we are all the same”.

Another NPP supporter added, “We have not voted here before that we lost, but today because of the things we did that we didn’t do well, in Dome we lost all six polling stations”.

Some other NPP supporter also accused their constituency secretary of enjoying in abroad while the December polls were ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) officially declared Faustina Elikplim Akurugu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Dome Kwabenya constituency in the Greater Accra Region, following the December 7 election.

The declaration follows a two-week dispute between the two major parties, the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), over the winner of the contest.

Ballot papers in the Dome Kwabenya constituency were reportedly set on fire, according to reports, the ballot papers were burnt after they were intercepted on their way to the collation centre.

The Dome Kwabenya seat has traditionally been a stronghold of the NPP.
