13-Year-old boy tragically murdered in Bawku

Asamankese: Police Rescue Couple From Lynching Over ‘Alleged’ Murder
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Bawku has been rocked by sorrow once again following the tragic death of a 13-year-old boy in the Singnatinga-Possum enclave.

The victim, identified only as Sherif, was fatally attacked while tending to livestock near the old cattle market in Bawku.

This incident adds to the rising toll of violence in the region, marking the 42nd reported death since October. Local sources revealed that Sherif was grazing his animals in an area believed to be relatively safe when he was ambushed by unknown assailants.

The attackers reportedly snapped his neck before fleeing with his livestock. While the exact motive remains unclear, it is believed to be tied to the ongoing conflict in the area, which has seen frequent outbreaks of violence linked to territorial and ethnic tensions.

Sherif’s body was swiftly recovered and transported to Kpalugu, a nearby suburb, where he was buried according to Islamic traditions.
