Aunty May explains how toxic environments and past experiences can lead to loose talk

Teachers must watch for signs of pretence among pupils — Abrema May

Aunty May has explained that people’s attitudes, past experiences and the environments they live in can influence their tendency to engage in loose talk.

Speaking on managing a loose talker in friendship, relationship and marriage on Nyansapo Fie, Plan B FM’s family, relationship and lifestyle programme, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Aunty May said some people disclose information about others because of their attitudes and experiences.

She explained that people who have experienced situations similar to those of others may feel they can freely talk about them. She also noted that living in a toxic environment can influence people to develop toxic behaviours, including loose talk.

Aunty May advised people to think carefully before speaking, especially when discussing matters involving others. She said loose talkers often speak without considering the hurt their words may cause, particularly when they believe they have moved on from someone or no longer respect them.

She further explained that excitement can lead people to reveal information about others. Aunty May added that when someone shares information about a person in a relationship, there may be a motive behind it.
