Two persons have been shot dead at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Accra, following an alleged financial dispute involving a GH¢500,000 debt.
The deceased have been identified as Irene Atuguba, 47, and her uncle, George Atuguba, 57.
In a press release dated October 30, 2026, the Accra Regional Police Command confirmed that the Baatsona Divisional Police Command had commenced investigations into the incident.
According to the police, officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to the residence after receiving information about the shooting on Friday, October 30. Upon arrival, they found the two victims lying in a pool of blood.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the suspect but failed to repay the money.
The police said the suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, reportedly visited the residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni, to demand repayment.
A misunderstanding allegedly broke out during the visit, resulting in the suspect shooting George Atuguba and his niece, Irene Atuguba.
The victims were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead by a medical officer.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The Accra Regional Police Command said efforts were underway to apprehend Samuel Christopher Osei Anto and bring him to justice.
